In addition to standard open surgery, surgeons at Spring Valley Hospital perform laparoscopic, or minimally invasive surgery, and robotic-assisted surgery. Our staff works with you to put you at ease and help you feel confident during the surgical process.
Minimally Invasive Surgery*
Many procedures can be done with tiny incisions. This type of surgery may lead to faster healing and less scarring. Using advanced technology, surgeons make small pencil-sized holes in the body. Video equipment is used to provide a magnified view of the surgical site.
Instruments are used to perform the surgery through the incisions. Our surgical suites are designed and equipped for minimally invasive surgery as well as traditional surgery. Talk to your surgeon to see if this type of procedure is right for you.
Surgeons at Spring Valley Hospital can perform minimally invasive procedures for:
- Ear, nose and throat (ENT)
- General surgery
- Neonatal intensive care
The da Vinci® Surgical System includes a surgeon’s console and a patient-side cart with four interactive robotic arms. It also features a 3D, high-definition vision system and the system’s EndoWrist® instruments.
The da Vinci System is designed to match a surgeon's hand movements into precise movements of the EndoWrist instruments. Robotic-assisted procedures may result in a faster recovery and shorter hospital stays.
Surgeons at Spring Valley Hospital are using the da Vinci technology for these procedures:
- Gallbladder surgery
- General surgery
- Gynecologic surgery
- Kidney surgery
- Prostate surgery
Surgical Services and Procedures
We offer surgical options for a wide range of healthcare needs. Our goal is to support patients every step of the way, from pre-surgery through recovery. We provide education on each procedure and guide patients through the process to make them feel confident.
Spring Valley Hospital has two operating rooms (ORs) dedicated to cardiac, vascular and thoracic (CVT) surgery. One surgical suite is designed to enable surgeons to perform high-risk, minimally invasive techniques. The design allows surgeons to switch to open surgery in the same OR if necessary.
We offer a comprehensive range of neurological services, including minimally invasive treatments for aneurysms and other complex neurological disorders and advanced neurosurgical procedures.
Surgeons at Spring Valley Hospital perform laparoscopic and robotic-assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) and other gynecologic procedures.
Orthopedic surgeons at Spring Valley Hospital Medical Center use advanced techniques and technology to help people get back to active, independent lives. We provide surgical services including joint replacement (hip and knee); spine surgery; arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, hand, elbow, knee and ankle; podiatric surgery; sports medicine or surgery; and fracture care.
Weight-loss surgery helps people lose weight by reducing the size of the stomach or bypassing part of the patient's intestines. After surgery, patients eat less food to feel full and satisfied.
Other services include general surgery, oral/maxillofacial surgery, pediatric surgery (outpatient only), plastic surgery, thoracic surgery, urological surgery and vascular surgery.
