The annual "Best of Las Vegas" program sponsored by the Las Vegas Review-Journal yielded top awards for Spring Valley and Desert Springs hospitals and Surgical Weight Control Center (SWCC).
Spring Valley Hospital was honored as the Gold winner in the Best Place to Have a Baby category and Silver winner in the Best Hospital category. Desert Springs Hospital was honored as the Gold winner in the Best Hospital category. Additionally, the Surgical Weight Control Center, which is part of the Valley Health Physician Alliance, was honored in the Weight Loss Center category with a Bronze award. All weight-loss surgeries with SWCC are performed at Desert Springs Hospital.
"After a very difficult year with the pandemic, this was absolutely the best way to close out December," said Leonard Freehof, CEO of Spring Valley Hospital. "Every single person in our hospital contributed to these honors by providing high-quality healthcare or support services with kindness and compassion during their workday. There are hundreds of examples of our employees going the extra mile to help patients, family members and one another."
"This honor is a wonderful testament to the outstanding healthcare our team provides each day," said Chris Loftus, CEO of Desert Springs Hospital. "However, it is extra special to know that during a once in a century worldwide pandemic, our Las Vegas community voted our Desert Springs Hospital Healthcare Heroes as the best in Las Vegas and we couldn’t be more proud!"
Best of Las Vegas noted that in 2020 it had the largest number of businesses competing in 350 different categories, and the largest number of nominations received in its 39-year history; it was nearly double compared to the 2019 content. Voting took place between September 1 and 30, with over 1.8 million ballots submitted and 5.6 million votes cast. Results were tabulated by NERUS Strategies and announced in a special magazine on December 13, 2020.
