I'm a pretty motivated guy. But after 26 months of 11 admissions, nine surgeries, four dislocations, two blood clots and two infections at home in Texas, I was on my last leg when I got here. My wife's an MD. So she researched and found a great surgeon at Spring Valley Hospital Medical Center. And he said, "I promise. We're gonna get you through this."

I cannot imagine any being in a better situation than right here. My healthcare team was so good. They became my family. My surgeon, therapists, technicians, nutritionist...it's been important, coming from Texas, away from my family, being embraced by this family.

I even travel from El Paso for my follow-ups.
